Admissions

REQUIREMENTS

The Innovative Hospitality Management Master program is a pre-experience program. It is advisable for people with a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management or a related field of expertise (for example a Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA). Specific requirements for admission are as follows:

  • A minimum of a three year university degree on a bachelor level. A Hospitality or Management related background is advisable.
  • As the program is delivered in English, proficiency in English is required certified by an IELTS 6.0 or Toefl 550, Toefl 213 Computer-based, 79-80 iBT or Cambridge Advance exam or an alternative certifcate of C1 level issued by the University’s academic secretary.
  • A certificate from the university which states that the applicant has completed a Bachelor Degree program, of at least 180 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System), and allows him/her to enrol in a Masters Program.
  • Two reference letters and one motivation letter.

PROCEDURES

Rolling applications are accepted all year round. Prospective candidates will undergo a personal interview and are ranked based upon their academic record, level of English, hospitality orientation, cross-cultural values, references and motivation letter.

Procedure:

All applications should include the following:

  • Completed and signed application form;
  • Copy of valid passport;
  • 1 photograph;
  • 2 letters of recommendation;
  • 1 motivation letter;
  • Certified copies of transcripts and diploma´s, along with certified translations if these are written in a language other than English, French, Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese, Italian, German or Dutch;
  • A certificate of the applicant’s University which states that the student has completed a Bachelor Degree Program, of at least 180 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) and therefore allows the applicant to enrol into an official Masters program
  • English proficiency certification (TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge Advance or equivalent accreditation of C1 level)
  • Application fee of 75€

Send only one copy (both in paper and digital format) of your application to either TSI-Turismo Sant Ignasi or to Hotel Management School Maastricht. Do not send your form to both centers!


FINANCIAL MATTERS 2013-2014

Financial details for the Master IHM program are as follows:

  • IHM Tuition fee:  € 14,500
    • Registration (15 days after the admission): 2.900€
    • Rest (before 01/09/2013): 11.600€
       
  • Early Bird Fee (full payment before June 1st):  € 13,775
    • Registration (15 days after the admission) = 2.900€
    • Rest  (before 01/06/2013) = 10.875€
       
  • Installment payment:  € 14,790
    • Registration  (15 days after the admission): 2.900€
    • First payment (01/09/2013) = 5.945€
    • Second payment (01/12/2013) = 5.945€

       
  • Dean Fellowship Fee (available when selected by the Dean**):  € 7,250
** A Dean Fellowship Fee can be obtained by meeting the following criteria:
 
- The transcript of your records shows an average grade of 8 (E.U.) / A (U.S.) or above.
- Your degree is from an internationally recognized university.
- You provide the Dean with 2 references of an outstanding nature.
-  A strong motivation letter accompanies your application.

Note: Dean’s Fellowship Fees are limited. First entry date: 01.04.13 / Second entry date (if available) 01.06.13
 
The fee may not be used in conjunction with others grants. Check with the admissions offices.
 

Deferment Policy:

It is possible to defer your admission if you are unable to attend the program. If you want to do so, please contact us as soon as possible at h.e.w.krul@hszuyd.nl. We will then reserve a place for you in the next intake. Please note that deferment is only allowed for two years. You are not required to deposit another € 75. However, if you do not enroll during the two year period, you are required to file a new application and pay the application fee once more.

Financial Assistance:

If you need financial assistance to study the master, we strongly recommend that you contact international agencies in advance of your study program at HMSM. A number of nongovernmental donor organizations in the Netherlands, Spain and abroad may supply funds for this purpose. Individuals looking for this type of assistance are advised to apply to the nearest office of these organizations.

Scholarships may also be granted by the Dutch government to foreign students through NUFFIC, within the framework of cultural agreements concluded between the Netherlands and other countries. Information on how to apply for these scholarships is available at your nearest Dutch Embassy or Consulate.

** A Dean Fellowship Fee can be obtained by meeting the following criteria:

  • The transcript of your records shows an average grade of 8 (E.U.) / A (U.S.).
  • Your degree is from an internationally recognized university.
  • You provide the Dean with 2 references of an outstanding nature.
  • A strong motivation letter accompanies your application.

Note: only 2 Dean’s Fellowship Fees a year are awarded.

*** A Partner Fellowship Fee can be obtained when you have a Bachelor degree from one of our following academic partners:

  • Penn State University, U.S.A.
  • Chinese University of Hong Kong, China
  • Johnson & Wales University, U.S.A.

Note: Partner Fellowship Fees are limited to a maximum of 2 per institution.
