In-company Project and Master Thesis:The final stage of the program is dedicated to increasing and enhancing research skills in a real setting. TSI-Tourism Sant Ignasi and the Hotel Management School Maastricht share an impressive network of international corporate contacts. The universities will collaborate in finding an applied research internship in a hotel, tourist organization, consultancy or tourism related company. This internship, which may take place in Spain, the Netherlands, in other European countries or even in Asia (visa regulations permitting), has a duration of 14 weeks. This experience provides students with an excellent insight into current concerns of hospitality companies and helps the industry finding creative and innovative solutions.
Through the research projects, we pursue a win-win situation for hospitality companies and for our students, while at the same time it enables the Universities to keep the program up-to-date and connected to the professional reality of the hospitality sector. Furthermore, depending on the student’s performance and on his/her interests, the company could consider taking the student over as an associate of the company after the internship.
Examples of research projects are: a feasibility study for the expansion of a hotel; a marketing plan for a hotel brand; evaluating or re-designing a HR policy; implementing a quality system; customer relationship best practices; developing a new hospitality concept for an existing property; benchmark studies; etc.
